When I was living in Utah I’d commonly start my mornings in the Starbucks drive-thru. Look I’m not proud but it is what it is. If there’s one thing Utah isn’t known for it’s coffee.
At the location I went to the staff was mediocre at best. They hardly smiled and I’d say got my order correct maybe 65% of the time. Something about ordering a drink with almond milk completely through them off.
One morning a new team member was at the window. Or at least, new to me. She was maybe in her early 20s and looked as unhappy as the others usually do.
She gave me my total and took my payment without greeting me or a smile. Again, I was used to this lack of customer service at this location so I didn’t think much of it. But something in me felt I should maybe try to change the vibe for the better.
So I asked HER how she was doing. She responded with “I’m okay” and handed me my change.
I noticed when she looked up the color of her eyes were a beautiful mossy green. It was overcast outside and something about the way the dim light hit them made the emerald color even more noticeable. They were almost glowing in contrast to her dark hair.
Without thinking, I said “you have the most beautiful eyes” as I looked right at her and smiled.
Immediately her face lit up and she smiled back and thanked me. She then went on to tell me repeatedly that I made her day even joking that I was going to make her cry. I heard her boast to another associate that I had said her eyes were beautiful and I heard the associate agree.
The vibe was all the sudden uplifting and positive – between she and I, and now with she and her fellow team member.
She thanked me again as she handed me my drink and told me once more how I’d made her day.
As I drove away I glanced in the rearview mirror and watched as the next car drove up to the window. I watched as she greeted them with a big smile and they smiled back at her as they handed her their payment.
I myself then smiled as I thought about how important it is to spread love, especially to those that you sense need it.
Never underestimate the power of passing on positivity. It has a ripple effect. Of course, passing along negativity can as well. Have you ever had an unpleasant interaction with a stranger and the bad vibes stuck with you for a bit, indirectly influencing your interactions then with others?
As you go through your day, be aware of your energy and how you impact those around you.
Take ownership of your energy.
Be mindful of your vibration and how it may influence others.
Often, we are so quick to point out what’s wrong that we don’t see what’s right. Don’t be that person. Be someone who looks for what’s right. And when you see it, acknowledge it.
Be part of setting forth a chain of positivity into the day. Even the smallest actions can raise the vibration of the world.
