So much love, respect and unending appreciation today and every day for all those who have given their lives for ours.
Our country is very divided right now. We’re seeing many people’s true colors. In a time where we desperately need solid leadership, there is none.
What I see in spite of that though, is so many Americans stepping up as leaders themselves. Everyday people like you and me not waiting for or in need of guidance. But naturally rising to the occasion looking for solutions and ways to help.
A lot has been brought to the surface during this crisis. As painful and uncomfortable as these realizations might be, I believe there is great opportunity.
As we continue to navigate this difficult time, don’t lose sight of what these men and women sacrificed their lives for.
The American spirit isn’t about political systems or history, it’s about the hearts of the people. It’s about our determination to overcome and our incredible ability to lift one another up.
We are in a unique position now more than ever to shape a better future.
Let this experience empower you. Let this experience motivate you. Let this experience show you that in a time of crisis, your unique talents and gifts are needed.
You are needed.
In times of uncertainty, we must capitalize on our individual strengths and look for where we can contribute.
Don’t wait on others to fix what is broken.
Tune out all the noise and listen to what you are being called to do. Are you being called to lead? To teach? To provide care? To love? To create?
Ultimately the energy of the country comes from each of us. Let’s honor those who came before us and those who will come after by celebrating that energy.
Let’s not let others define what it means to be American. Let’s write the definition ourselves.
